After stints of supply teaching and as a county tutor, including a year’s 0.5 f.t.e. GCSE Maths work with Young Offenders at Huntercombe, he established himself as an independent tutor in 2002, working also online (for the Satellite School) with young people with long term medical conditions and other adverse circumstances. He has since joined the tutor panel of Oxford Home Schooling / Open Learning, remotely mentoring international students in Maths and French, in each of which subjects he was commissioned to rewrite and update course materials.
He studied the piano to ABRSM Grade VII with Distinction; also holds the Archbishops’ Certificate of the Guild of Church Musicians (via self-directed private study, 1997); and has recent exam-candidate experience in his own right with IGCSEs in Mandarin Chinese (B, 2011) and Spanish (A*, 2012).
He holds a clear and current Enhanced CRB Certificate and full clean Driving Licence.

Ian Miles, founder of IanGenuity EPLC, was educated at Forres (Swanage), Tonbridge School (as a Foundation Exhibitioner); New College, Oxford (MA 1984) and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge (PGCertEd 1982).
His teaching career began in 1982 at Aldro (Surrey; IAPS) where he taught French, took on running the RE department and was also school organist; after two years running his own language department at Maidwell Hall (Northants; IAPS, 1989-91) he returned to Oxford in a similar role at New College School (IAPS/CSA; fd. 1379) where he set up an international cultural exchange to Caen in Normandy.
